“I am most fascinated by ineffable sensation, a subconscious state that mixes our being as a species into a rich cocktail. In spite of the notion of the age of individualism, we collectively form a unified organism, like a cell part of a system. The pulse is the primordial form of expression, where the character is the oscillation – the line – symbolising the fractal neural network and the materialisation where we are in constant dialogue and an integral part of the hivemind and biomass.”

Regina-Mareta Soonsein’s resonant, oscillating micro-universe is her way of sorting out the chaos around her and the bedazzlement of the diversity and information overload. In the midst of it all, she is intrigued by the archetypal human’s animalistic and natural state. She does not directly imitate the natural structures inherent in biomimicry, but approaches it intuitively by touching the patterns of matter.

Regina-Mareta Soonsein (b 1991) has studied in Pallas University of Applied Sciences (Painting BA, 2019) and, during recent years, concentrates on linocut. She has participated in group shows, had personal exhibitions and created expositions on social areas since 2017. She has earned a Biafarin Award in NordArt exhibition, an audience award in Wiiralt contest, a best stage design award in I Land Sound festival and a Year’s Newcomer’s title of The Association of Estonian Printmakers.

The exhibition is sponsored by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia, and Pühaste Pruulikoda.
