On Saturday 22 April, we invite you to an afternoon curator tour of the new Miles Aldridge exhibition “Virgin Mary. Supermarkets. Popcorn. Photographs from 1999 – 2020”. Nadine Barth, the exhibition’s outstanding curator, will open the exhibition based on her long experience.

Nadine Barth is a curator and journalist who studied philosophy, literature and art history in Hamburg and worked for many years as a journalist and art dealer. In 2006, she founded barthouse, an agency for international cultural projects. She has edited more than a hundred photography, art and fashion magazines and curated exhibitions for, among others, the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg, the NRW-Forum in Düsseldorf, Fotografiska in Stockholm, New York and Tallinn, Puma in Singapore and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin. She lives in Berlin.

A recurring theme in Miles Aldridge’s work is the false illusion of luxury. Aldridge’s work interweaves historical motifs with contemporary ones and subtly references art historical canons. Only rarely does he allow the real world to intrude into the imaginary – through his lens, even reality appears artificial. The exhibition is a major retrospective of the British artist and photographer’s work, including more than 50 works shot on film and portraits of celebrities such as Sophie Turner, Viola Davis, Michael Fassbender and Donatella Versace.

A glass of sparkling wine will be included in the tour for all guests.

*The event is at a special price for Fotografiska members, the ticket code can be found in the members newsletter.
