Liisa-Lota Jõeleht “More beautiful”
Liisa-Lota Jõeleht’s solo exhibition “More beautiful” in Telliskivi Creative City Conteiner Gallery.
The bird’s home is a little crooked, yet joyful. The windows, like a child’s first clumsy B letters, boldly take up space. On the walls hang embroideries made under a careful gaze. Between them, a whisper or two. The cygnet has written questions in its diary with words too cherished to be lost. Only for itself. The sun is singing, and you can hear it in a local newspaper, written as a poem. It is there on the front page. Beneath a pile of blankets, warm cheeks — and behind them, thoughts of many flavors, bending like crooked outlines. Some resemble pistachio cookies, others, a mud cake.
Liisa-Lota Jõeleht (2002) is an artist living and working in Tallinn. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Installation and Sculpture from the Estonian Academy of Arts and is a member of the Estonian Young Contemporary Art Union. Jõeleht’s practice uses nostalgic motives and holds a special place for sincerity, playfulness and childlike wonder.
