BRUNCH / EXHIBITION / CURATORIAL TOUR

On Saturday 22 April, we invite you to a colourful brunch at Fotografiska Restaurant, where we will open with a brunch the brilliant exhibition by Miles Aldrige “Virgin Mary. Supermarkets. Popcorn. Photographs from 1999 – 2020.

For brunch in the panorama-view restaurant, the Fotografiska chefs have put together a unique menu that brings the artist’s colourful masterpieces from the walls of the exhibition to the plate. The brunch will be accompanied by a tour of the exhibition, where Nadine Barth, the exhibition’s distinguished curator, will share her thoughts and stories behind the works.

/About the exhibition
A recurring theme in Miles Aldridge’s work is the false illusion of luxury. His photographs depict psychedelic interiors furnished with comfort items from the American suburbs of the mid-century last century – all designed to express the success of the owner. His photographs of domestic environments are often underlined with a bittersweetness that is Aldridge’s personal reflection on childhood memories of his mother after a devastating divorce. Only rarely does he allow the real world to intrude into the imaginary – through his lens, even reality appears artificial.

The exhibition is a major retrospective of the British artist and photographer’s work, including more than 50 works shot on film and portraits of celebrities such as Sophie Turner, Viola Davis, Michael Fassbender and Donatella Versace.
