Conversation evening with artists “From bad mood to depression”
Thursday, 17.02.2022 at 7 p.m.
The chat evening is part of the art exhibition and series of events Treatment of Diseases. Controlled.
In the works created for this exhibition, the artists depict their private experiences and mental challenges, expressing their ways of coping and adaptability. However, the exhibition goes even further than impression and assumption, allowing artists to reveal personal psychological challenges and the background of creation even more privately in video interviews. We turn an art hall into a psychotherapy session or, as Ülo Kiple said, a “madhouse”.
Talking artists Kadri Toom, Jaan Toomik, Alar Tuul and clinical psychologist and psychotherapist Katri-Evelin Kalaus and psychiatrist Katrin Orav (Center for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy SENSUS).
The mood fluctuates. Everyone sometimes has a bad mood and an unwillingness to do something. Some people’s mood and energy are very low, their bad moods last a long time, they don’t enjoy activities that used to be fun, and a lot of avoidance raises their heads. Depression is a mood disorder. Why is the mood bad, how to fix it, what to do and what to definitely avoid, how to prevent mood swings? Artists share their experiences of keeping in the mood and overcoming bad moods. We discuss the effect of creation on mood.
