Jako Krull’s solo exhibition, IR, presents a selection of works photographed in the infrared spectrum using a modified digital camera. The photos have been taken over several years and in various countries, offering a wide visual range. The works are influenced by expressionism and place strong emphasis on the formal beauty of the images, portraying an aesthetically rich symbiosis between the artificial and the organic.
Taavi Tulev says the following about his exhibition Pure Thoughts: “The goal of my work is to create images that might initially feel familiar – as if you’ve seen them somewhere before, maybe in your subconscious, but actually probably not. The emotion I try to express in my art is almost the opposite of what is usually considered emotion. My aim is to convey a sense of presence – being here and now – and to leave behind the everyday world we experience outside our comfort zone. I like the idea that my pictures may have a hypnotic effect. I also make music, and I think the same can be said about it. These two media are like two sides of the same coin. In my art, I pay a lot of attention to geometry; often the idea lies in the impossibility of a certain pattern. This may not be noticeable at first glance, but if you look deeper into the images, there’s a little trick in each of them. My works are created digitally. They contain a lot of thought, countless walks to keep the mind clear, and countless sleepless nights.”
